Overview

A lovely family moving from Miami to the Upper East Side seeks an exceptional live-out nanny for two young children, who will be almost 3-months and 2.5-years-old when the position starts. The family hope to have arrived in NYC by mid-November ready to meet and trial candidates, aiming for an early December start date. The usual schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8am-7pm, and there will likely be occasional weekend/evening help needed (with prior notice).

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be calm, confident and nurturing, and must have prior exprience caring for two young children. Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Engaging the children through age-appropriate activities, including organising outings, exploring the local area, joining groups and classes, reading, talking, and playing at their level
• Supporting physical, emotional, and educational developmental milestones with both children
• Maintaining consistent nap and sleep routines, with confidence to tweak and adjust as the children get older
• Dropping off and picking up the older child from pre-school
• Preparing fresh, healthy food for the toddler, and supporting weaning and the introduction of solids for the baby
• Keeping the nursery and play areas clean, tidy and organised
• Laundry and wardrobe management for the children
• Nursery duties including diapering, feeding, preparing bottles, bathing and supporting the evening routine
• Regular communication with the parents relating to the days activities, general development, daily routines, and any concerns

Requirements

• Experience with toddlers and babies, completely comfortable taking care of both children together
• Warm, nurturing, patient, and brilliant at engaging with children at their level
• Happy running after an energetic little boy, and to match his activity levels (while also maintaining a calm environment)
• Proactive, organised and enthusiastic, full of ideas and comfortable encouraging children's natural curiosity and imagination
• Effective communicator, able to work collaboratively with the parents and to quickly understand their parenting style
• Candidates who can speak Spanish would be appreciated (but this isn't a requirement)
• Comfortable working alongside Mom (who will be on maternity leave when the position starts) and, later, when she works from home
• Available for some weekend/evening hours
• Pitch-in approach to the household - happy to empty a dishwasher, clear up after preparing food, and generally keep things reasonably organised (however, candidates are not expected to take on any general housekeeping)
• Happy to work alongside a friendly cat
• Open to some travel with the family in the future
• Candidates MUST be legally able to work in the US

Salary and Benefits

• Around $40/hr, DOE
• For exceptional candidates, the family is happy to consider potential reimbursement of health cover
