Plymouth State University is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Zamboni Driver to assist with ice maintenance and rink operations. The Zamboni Driver is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and playable ice surface for practices, games, tournaments, and other university and community events.

This position works closely with athletic department staff, coaches, officials, student-athletes, and visiting teams to ensure the ice surface is properly maintained and the facility is prepared for scheduled activities.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Operate the Zamboni and other ice-maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner.
• Perform ice resurfacing before, during, and after hockey games, practices, and other scheduled events.
• Monitor ice conditions and communicate maintenance concerns to appropriate facility staff.
• Assist with maintaining a safe and clean rink environment.
• Complete routine checks of the Zamboni and report equipment issues, maintenance needs, or safety concerns.
• Assist with basic ice maintenance tasks, including snow removal and rink preparation.
• Follow established safety procedures and facility operating guidelines.
• Coordinate resurfacing schedules with athletic department staff, coaches, officials, and event personnel.
• Assist with opening and closing rink areas as assigned.
• Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with student-athletes, staff, visiting teams, officials, and spectators.
• Perform other facility and event-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to safely operate or learn to operate a Zamboni and related ice-maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, coaches, and event personnel.
• Ability to work in a cold rink environment for extended periods.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during athletic events as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience operating a Zamboni or maintaining an ice rink.
• Previous experience working in an athletic facility, recreation facility, or event environment.
• Mechanical or facilities-maintenance experience.
• Experience working with hockey programs or other ice-related activities.
• Current driver's license or ability to meet university requirements for operating facility equipment.

Compensation Pay Range:

$15 - $20 /hour
