YouthForce (YF) is the youth workforce development program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County dedicated to leveling the professional playing field for underserved youth. By providing meaningful experiences, we seek to empower youth to develop a vision for their future, and develop the resources and networks to help them achieve their goals.
Program Overview: The TeamWork Internship Program (TWIP) offers teens a meaningful entry-level work experience; TeamWork Interns play a key role in fan game day experience during Seattle Mariners and Seattle Kraken home games. The TWIP extends beyond the game day job; teens must also participate in YF work readiness workshops and drop in or scheduled check-ins to prepare teens for post high school. The topics and resources covered in the workshops ensure that teens are on target to graduate high school, ready with competitive college and scholarship applications, a strong resume, and knowledge on managing their own finances.
Opportunity Overview: YOUTHFORCE TEAMWORKS PROGRAM MANAGER
The YouthForce Program Manager reports to the YF Program Director. As an ambassador and role model for local teens, this position is responsible for managing and leading the TeamWork Internship Program (TWIP) in its delivery of meaningful entry-level work experience. The Program Manager (PM) is responsible for successful coordination and day to day operations of all YF requested jobs for game days and special events including planning and follow up. The PM is responsible for the supervision and mentorship of all YF teen interns on game days, addressing performance issues directly and effectively, incorporating youth development principals and overseeing the program. The PM will outreach, recruit and match teens with relevant positions and support their growth of basic professional work skills, leadership, and soft skills through ongoing coaching and mentoring.
Attendance at all home games and game management meetings is mandatory for this role.
Program Management
Serve as role model and mentor to all teens at all times
Serve as advocate for teens in their internships as well as in college/career preparation
Manage TWIP program goals, curriculum, conferences, resource fairs, career connection events, workshops, and community service projects for youth
Lead and coordinate intern screening including preliminary interviews to assure youth fit YouthForce target population
Lead and coordinate intern recruitment efforts for teens from BGCKC, Seattle School District, surrounding schools and community-based organizations through collaborative partnerships
Help facilitate workshops and events in collaboration with other YouthForce staff
Ensure interns are actively participating in career readiness workshops; identify disengaged youth and create strategies to reengage them in education, work, and programs
Collect, track, and report program data/statistics and evaluation outcome data
Support the design and implementation of evaluations, measurement, metrics calculations and reporting
Maintain an environment that facilitates the implementation and achievement of youth development outcomes through program service delivery
Ensure productive intern performance through ongoing support and professional development
Manage a program budget and accurately track program spending
Sustain an environment that fosters communication, collaboration, and respectful relationships between YouthForce teen interns and company staff
Maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders including partners, interns, BGCKC staff, schools, community organizations, and community members
Partner Stewardship
Actively participate in BGCKC program staff meetings, planning, and activities
Ensure all aspects of intern partnership are honored, including intern and partner experiences and ensure expectations are met
Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders including but not limited to managers, mentors, and company sponsors
Work collaboratively with the internship site partners to maintain a professionally successful partnership that guarantees a smooth and successful internship program which increases the capacity of the teen intern experience and learning environment
Provide guidance and feedback to stakeholders on teen development with regard to teen intern management in a timely and effective manner
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in special programs, events, or other duties as directed by YF Executive Director
Maintain an environment that facilitates positive youth development
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
YouthForce is seeking an individual who is self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, flexible, assertive, energetic, and resourceful. This position is best filled by someone who can balance meaningful relationships with teens and unique partnerships with corporations and community organizations. They must be an accountable and positive team player – someone with strong follow through, time management, organization and high levels of emotional intelligence/integrity.
Following experience, knowledge, and/or abilities are preferred:
Bachelors degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent youth development experience is preferred.
2+ years working with a youth development program or agency in a leadership role (i.e. program lead/manager/director); experience in youth employment, working with high school aged youth, and/or Boys & Girls Clubs experience preferred
2+ years staff/volunteer/partnership management experience; experience hiring, training, supervising staff (or successful evidence of transferrable skill)
Experience successfully planning, organizing, and facilitating trainings and events
Ability to quickly build positive rapport with both adults and teens
Fiscal management experience including maintaining program budgets
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong professional presence, customer relations skills, ability to remain calm under stressful situations and maintain strict confidentiality
Strong conflict resolution skills and high level of cultural competency, self-awareness, and ability to work with a diverse group of teens and co-workers in 1:1 or group setting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to collect, track, and analyze data to demonstrate outcomes and inform program decision-making
Must have reliable transportation to travel to companies and organizations throughout King County
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Current First Aid/CPR Certification
Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record as determined by BGCKC Vehicle Loss Prevention Program, must be 21 years old or older to drive Club owned and operated vehicles previously
Valid Washington State Driver’s License
HOURS: Full-time, requires a flexible work schedule and includes monthly evenings and weekends
WAGE: $26.00-$29.00

*Travel to and from local sports stadiums is required
TRAVEL: Ability to travel regularly to multiple Club locations throughout King County to effectively partner with leaders and staff. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
