YouthBuild Education Teacher

Title: YouthBuild Education Teacher

Classification: Non-Exempt Reports To: YouthBuild Program Manager

Salary: $45,000

Scope of Position

The YouthBuild Education Teacher provides academic instruction, case management, mentoring, and individualized support to YouthBuild participants working toward their High School Equivalency (HiSET) credential and education and employment goals. This position assesses academic needs, delivers engaging instruction, monitors measurable skill gains and educational progress, and maintains an assigned caseload. The Education Teacher works collaboratively with YouthBuild staff to help participants overcome barriers, develop leadership and workforce skills, successfully complete the program, and transition into employment, apprenticeship, occupational training, or postsecondary education.

Essential Functions

· Provide classroom instruction and individualized academic support in Mathematics, Reading/Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and other subjects required for HiSET completion

· Assess academic skills, develop individualized education plans, and provide instruction that accommodates multiple academic levels and learning styles

· Prepare participants for HiSET testing and monitor academic progress, measurable skill gains, testing, attendance, and credential attainment

· Maintain an assigned caseload and provide ongoing case management, mentoring, coaching, and individualized participant support

· Conduct one-on-one meetings to review academic progress, attendance, barriers, personal development, and education and career goals

· Mentor participants in accountability, communication, conflict resolution, decision-making, leadership, and professional behavior

· Incorporate career readiness, life skills, financial and digital literacy, leadership development, and workforce concepts into instruction

· Collaborate with YouthBuild staff to support transitions into employment, registered apprenticeships, occupational training, and postsecondary education

· Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, leadership development, community service, and other YouthBuild activities

· Maintain accurate participant and educational records and assist with tracking outcomes in accordance with EDSI, YouthBuild, U.S. Department of Labor, and funder requirements

· Maintain participant confidentiality and adhere to all program policies and procedures

Education and Experience Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Workforce Development, or related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered

· Experience in education, tutoring, case management, mentoring, coaching, or youth development

· Experience working with young adults or individuals facing barriers to education and employment preferred

· HiSET/GED, Adult Basic Education, alternative education, or workforce development experience preferred

· Strong classroom management, communication, relationship-building, documentation, and organizational skills

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment and develop positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn participant tracking and case management systems
