About the Role

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of young people? CatholicCare Tasmania’s Inspire at Home Program isseeking dedicated and compassionate Youth Workers to join our team. This is your opportunity to provide 24/7 therapeutic residential care to young people aged 12–18, helping them overcome life challenges and thrive in a healing, supportive environment. As a Youth Worker you will work collaboratively with Key Workers, Placement Leads, and Therapeutic Specialists to support young people in achieving personal growth, developing independent living skills, and building positive relationships.

As a Youth Worker, you will:

• Create and maintain a trauma-informed therapeutic environment tailored to the individual
needs of young people.

• Role model positive behaviours, and support young people with anger management, conflict resolution, and daily routines.

• Facilitate “living-learning” experiences that encourage the development of independent living skills. • Support the implementation of therapeutic care plans, safety plans, and behaviour response plans. • Build safe, trusting relationships with young people and encourage their participation in education,
house operations, and personal development programs.

• Respond to crises effectively, ensuring the safety and well-being of young people and the
household.

• Collaborate with Key Workers and Placement Leads to maintain a cohesive approach to care.

About You

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

• Experience working with young people who present challenging behaviors and an understanding of trauma-informed care.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with young people,
colleagues, and other service providers.

• Ability to work flexibly in a 24/7 roster across multiple houses in the program.

• Sound knowledge of relevant statutory requirements, including mandatory reporting, duty of care, and WHS policies.

• Willingness to support household operations, including meal preparation and cleaning.

• Commitment to ongoing training, including Traumatic Crisis Intervention (provided during induction). • Leadership skills in conflict resolution and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

• Strong understanding of childhood trauma, adolescent development, and therapeutic care practices.

• A commitment to safety, well-being, and CatholicCare’s values.

Essential Requirements

• Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (Tasmania)

• National Police Criminal History Check

• Valid Driver’s Licence

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
