About the role | He kōrero whakamārama mō tēnei tūranga

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Youth Support Workers who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of tamariki and rangatahi. These roles sit within our Youth Service and may be based across our Christchurch, Rangiora and/or Rolleston services, working in both residential and community-based settings.

The young people we support may have experienced significant trauma and may also be neurodiverse. As a Youth Support Worker, you will bring a trauma-informed approach, maintaining strong professional boundaries while offering consistent, compassionate support.

Key responsibilities | Ngā kawenga matua
• Supporting rangatahi with daily routines including meal preparation, medication administration, school drop-offs and pick-ups, appointments, personal care, and household tasks
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and life skills development
• Maintaining a safe, warm, and welcoming whare
• Participating in regular team hui, supervision, and learning opportunities
• Supporting rangatahi to stay connected with their culture, whānau, and local community

• A calm, caring, and respectful approach
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
• A commitment to privacy, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
• Flexibility to work a rotating shift roster, including days, evenings, weekends, and public holidays
• An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (desirable)
• Relevant Health and Wellbeing qualifications (desirable)

We work in partnership with adults and rangatahi across Te Waipounamu (the South Island), supporting people to live the lives they choose and to achieve their goals, dreams, and aspirations as valued members of their communities.

Our Youth Services in Christchurch – Ōtautahi include emergency housing, transitional housing, Individual Care Responses within a 24/7 supported environment, and community-based support in schools, homes, and local settings.

Our organisation has a strong commitment to safeguarding children. All employees will be vetted to a level appropriate to the role.

Essential requirements | Ngā tohunga mō tēnei tūranga
• A current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to complete one at our cost)
• A full, current New Zealand Driver Licence (essential)
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand
• A valid work or student visa with at least 12 months remaining (if applicable)
• Availability to work across all shift types
