
Youth Skills Training (YST) Coordinator

The Youth Skills Training (YST) Coordinator role is to bridge the gap between the school district, students, and local industry. The coordinator will build partnerships and coordinate industry exposure experiences and the placement of students into safe, paid internships in high-growth fields.
Core Responsibilities
Partnership Development: Recruit local employers, community organizations, and Chambers of Commerce to build strong, localized career pipelines Coordinate YST Program Goals: meaningful industry exposure (field trips, guest speakers, etc.) for diverse students, industry-related courses and pathways for high school credit, industry-recognized certification/credentialing, and paid work experiences in one or more of the following industries: advanced manufacturing, agriculture, automotive, health care and information technology.
Safety Compliance & Training: Ensure all participating worksites are safe, compliant with Minnesota labor laws, and align with state-approved YST Employer Approval guidelines.
Student Success: Facilitate work readiness training, help students earn industry-recognized credentials, and track long-term progress.
Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in education. Licensure: Hold or able to obtain a Work-Based Learning (WBL) Teacher/Coordinator Endorsement from the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB). Experience: Background in career and technical education (CTE), career counseling, talent acquisition, or youth development. Knowledge Base: Familiarity with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) child-labor laws, OSHA safety standards, and regional workforce needs.
