Job Description

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County is accepting applications for Youth Program Specialist. The Youth Program Specialist is responsible for branch programming; youth program quality, branch operations, and facility and child safety and administrative compliance.

Duties include but not limited to providing age appropriate services and activities to meet the needs of enrolled members; create an atmosphere of academic success, health, and fitness; accountable for fidelity of curriculum, programming and activities; implementing YPQ techniques. Responsible for performance and achieving goals; accountable for accurate and timely documentation and reporting; accountable for facility and child safety.

There is potential for exposure to germs and illnesses. Employees are to follow all safety procedures and protocols.

Work sites are located in low income areas, challenging neighborhoods, and growth neighborhoods. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and at times moderate or very loud. Position requires working with large groups of youth.

At the branches youth receive targeted services in a safe, supportive environment from staff who believe in the organization's mission. The Club experience focuses on three priority outcomes Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles and Positive Citizenship.

Requirements

Education and work experience requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor Degree preferred
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working with youth

Qualifications include:

  • Ability to work regular program hours with periodic evenings, nights and weekends
  • Ability to be a positive role model
  • Ability to establish rapport and build relationships
  • Ability to set expectations and boundaries
  • Ability to relate to at-risk youth
  • Ability to facilitate, teach, or instruct
  • Ability to create programs and activities based need
  • Efficient with computers and Microsoft office; Knowledge of technology and software such as iPad, tablets, computers and internet
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass agency background screens and drug screen at any time
  • Position requires driving personal vehicle. Candidates must have satisfactory driving record and a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties and to be covered under the company insurance the requirement is for employee to be a minimum of age 21.

Salary & Benefits

Minimum starting pay: $15.95 per hour
