Summary

If you enjoy working with youth and planning fun events, then consider this your next gig; the Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services department is looking for a Youth Program Leader to help organize and lead activities at our community & neighborhood centers.

The purpose of the class is to plan, organize, and conduct programs such as the before and after school programs, summer day camp, summer playground activities, and other recreational programs. The class works under supervision according to set procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience in leading recreational activities.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older at time of hire.
  • Must obtain basic first aid and CPR certifications within 90 days of hire.
  • This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
  • Must successfully pass a Child Protective Services check and criminal background check related to the position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.

Additional Requirements

  • Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • May require shift work to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • May require some local travel.
  • The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
