Typical Schedule - Monday-Wednesday 11am - 7:30pm; Saturday & Sunday 9am - 4:30pm
Under the general direction of the Youth & Family Director, the Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, administration, supervision and development of all programming as it relates to the operation and management of Youth Sports and Birthday Parties. The coordinator will also hold leadership responsibilities within summer camp. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Overall responsibility for the coordination and delivery of Youth Sports and Birthday Party programming.
· Responsible for hiring, training, supervision, and continued development of program staff.
· Act as a liaison between parent and program regarding parent or participant concerns and work as the key leader to assure that a safe, fun and quality program is provided in all areas.
· General oversight of all on site programs in accordance with the policies, values, and standards established by the Association.
· Responsible for assisting with the financial development of Annual Campaign.
· Responsible for the overall facility appearance of the Youth Sports and Birthday Party equipment and areas.
· Serve as a member of the Youth & Family staff team, assisting with special events, STEM and other programming as assigned.
· Implement programs that identify safety, quality, and excellent customer service as top priorities.
· Attend all required meetings and training.
· Responsible for assisting the Camp Director in the development and review of Sports Camp Lesson planning and staff preparation OR act in other leadership capacity within summer camp.
· All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
· Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED. A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field preferred.
· Must have full range of knowledge in youth programming including Youth Sports.
· Experience implementing and leading high quality programs.
· Must be self-motivated, hands on team leader with strong communications, networking and collaboration skills.
· High level of attention to detail and quality of programming, service and facilities.
· Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
· Must have current CPR/AED, Standard First Aid, O2 administration or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able to stand for extended duration of shift.
· Must be able to bend and stoop frequently.
· Must be able to lift at least twenty-five pounds.
· Must be able to communicate verbally and communicate swiftly and effectively with emergency personnel in person and over the telephone.
