Responsibilities
The Parkview Family YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and attentive part-time Youth & Government Instructor to lead and facilitate the Youth & Government program.
- Connect: Build a strong foundation for teens interested in Youth & Government by engaging, mentoring, and encouraging participants to develop their leadership and civic engagement skills.
- Serve: Encourage teens to explore their creativity and ideas by guiding them through the process of creating a bill to present at the Statehouse Conference, while teaching them the importance of advocacy and civic involvement.
- Support: Assist with program activities, preparation, and transportation of participants to designated program locations and events, including the Statehouse Conference, as directed.
Requirements
Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Positions that require an employee to drive YMCA vehicles require a clean driving record.
- One year of teaching or related experience in the program area preferred.
- Certification by an approved organization in the program area being led, when required.
- Excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
- Excellent human relation skills and enthusiasm.
- Basic math skills and demonstrated recordkeeping proficiency.
- An elevated level of organization, flexibility, and ability to handle difficult situations effectively.
- Successfully complete within 60 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/O2 Certification, Bloodborne Pathogen training, Child Abuse
Salary: Part-time $12.44-14.50 hourly
Hours Available: Wednesdays 5:00pm-6:30pm (September- February)
