Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lambeth to assist with the appointment of a Youth Engagement Workers on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £16.78- £21.93 per hour

Summary:

The Youth Engagement Worker will work within the Engagement Service, a preventative service supporting children, young people and families at an early stage to reduce vulnerabilities, risks and factors that may contribute to offending behaviour, family breakdown, homelessness, sexual exploitation and criminal exploitation.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain positive, professional and trusting relationships with children, young people and their families to encourage engagement and achieve successful outcomes.
  • Provide preventative and early intervention support to children and young people experiencing vulnerabilities or who are at risk of offending.
  • Undertake face-to-face outreach work within community settings and develop engaging activities that respond to the needs and interests of young people.
  • Identify the individual needs, strengths, risks and aspirations of children and young people and contribute to the development and delivery of personal development plans.

Qualifications:

  • Recognised JNC Youth Work qualification or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Relevant training or qualification in youth work, social care, community work, children and young people, education or a related discipline would be advantageous.

Essentials:

  • Demonstrable experience of working with children, young people and families.
  • Experience of engaging and communicating effectively with children and young people on an individual and group basis.
  • Experience of developing positive, constructive and trusted relationships with young people.

Please note:

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
