Summary

Job Description:

The Youth Engagement Worker will build positive relationships with youth and young adults in the community, engage them in violence prevention and positive development activities, and ensure that youth voices and perspectives are represented in GSO Peace on Purpose programming. The position will conduct community outreach, connect youth to resources and opportunities, support youth leadership, and help identify community needs. The Youth Engagement Worker will also collaborate with community partners to ensure services are accessible, culturally responsive, and reflective of the youth and communities being served.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with youth and young adults in the community.
  • Conduct community outreach and youth engagement activities.
  • Engage youth in violence prevention, leadership, mentoring, and positive development programs.
  • Connect youth to community resources, education, employment, and other opportunities.
  • Support youth leadership and ensure youth voices and perspectives are represented in programming.
  • Identify and communicate emerging youth and community needs.
  • Provide basic crisis intervention, de-escalation, conflict resolution, and safety planning when youth experience challenging or high-risk situations.
  • Recognize signs of crisis, trauma, or escalating conflict and make appropriate referrals to emergency, behavioral health, or community-based services.
  • Collaborate with community partners to improve access to services and ensure programming is culturally responsive and youth-centered.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of outreach, engagement, referrals, crisis interventions, and participant activities.•Participate in team meetings, community events, trainings, and program activities.
  • Support GSO Peace on Purpose goals related to violence prevention, youth empowerment, and positive development.
  • Collaborate with the Violence Prevention Supervisor on GSO Peace on Purpose initiatives focused on violence prevention, crisis intervention, community engagement, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and community safety.
  • Track hours and activities and complete required grant reports and documentation.
