Living Conditions

Volunteers may be placed in rural, semi-urban, or urban communities across 8 of the 12 regions of Morocco, including Tanger Tetouan Al Hoceima, Oriental, Fes Meknes, Beni Mellal Khenifra, Dra Tafilalet, Marrakech Safi, and Souss Mass. Volunteers can expect to live an independent apartment or house within a 45-minute walk from the youth organization. Access to transportation, equipment, internet, and programming space will vary by site. Youth activities may be scheduled around school hours, exams, holidays, Ramadan, summer programs, and youth availability.

Activities

Assess youth interests, participation barriers, available resources, and community priorities with partners.

Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that respond to identified needs and leverage available resources.

Facilitate interactive sessions that strengthen life skills, communicative English, confidence, teamwork, and leadership.

Develop youth’s employability and digital literacy skills, including job search, communication, and basic professional skills.

Create opportunities for youth to practice their new skills through volunteerism, service learning, and clubs.

Guide youth and community members in designing and implementing projects that respond to local priorities.

Strengthen the capacity of counterparts and youth-service providers to plan, facilitate, and sustain effective youth development activities.

You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as supporting creative arts or recreational sports clubs.

Training

As a Youth Development Educator, you will be trained on participatory youth development, activity and project planning, effective facilitation techniques, and life skills education. Peace Corps/Morocco will teach you Darija to help you comfortably live in and connect with the community. You may also receive language resources and learn Tamazight, Tashelhit, or Tarifit, depending on your site placement.

After 10 weeks of training, you will move to a rural, semi-urban, or urban community where you will collaborate with youth centers or other youth-serving organizations to assess the learning needs and develop solutions based on youth interests and available resources.

Couple Types

Only heterosexual couples can be accepted for this program.

Couple Living Conditions

Couples who are selected for the same sector will live together but work with different local partners, which may be in the same community or in neighboring communities (not more than 30 minutes apart).

Couple Training Conditions

Couples will live together during training but may separate occasionally for field-based activities.

Couple Sector Combinations

Each person must apply separately and qualify for a position in the same sector as their partner.
