Job Title: Camp Counselor Department: Youth Activities
Reports To: Director/Youth Coordinator II Hours: 40 Hrs/Wk - TEMP position
Salary: $17.00 Per Hour Requisition: 904

General function: Works with Supervisors/Senior counselors to deliver the highest quality summer leadership experience possible. Assist Supervisors/Senior counselors in day to day operations and implementation.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Plan and supervise the daily activities of the group.
2. Take daily attendance of the group and report absences. Continues attendance counts throughout the day.
3. Report any illness or injury.
4. Escort the group to and from all activity areas and trips.
5. Teach and supervise organized games, team sports, free play and assist the Coordinators.
Job Requirements:
• Willing to stay at the camp as needed.
• Able to make quick and proper decisions.
• Must be safety and security minded at all times.
• Must be supportive, patient and genuinely care about the welfare of young people.
• Must be happy, energetic and outgoing.
• Will take a genuine interest in the development of campers.
Minimum requirements: Be 16+ years of age with the ability to lead in a positive manner. The age requirement may be waived if applicant has lifeguard certification. Must be able to receive First Aid/CPR certification and Food Handler’s permit. Must be safety and security minded. Prefer previous experience working with campers at GREAT camp.
Physical Demands
• Requires the ability to read, write, and communicate accurately in English.
• The employee is required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
• The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
• The employee is required to stand and walk/hike for one hour at a time.
• The employee is required to swim and participate in water activities.
• The employee must have the physical ability to keep up with younger campers.
