Role: Young Persons Practitioner

Salary: £27,300 per annum plus £700 on call allowance

Location: Guernsey, Channel Islands

Contract/Hours: Fixed Term Contract - until 30th September 2027 - Full time – 37 hours a week

We would expect a degree of flexibility around working hours to meet the demands of the service and service users, including occasional weekend or evening work..

A bit about the role

The Guernsey Youth & Housing Project provides vital support to young people across the Bailiwick aged 13 to 25. As a Young Persons Practitioner within our Work and Wellbeing Team, you will play an important role in helping young people build confidence and achieve their goals, whether that involves moving into employment, returning to education, or exploring volunteering and training opportunities.

Through personalised support and evidence-based interventions tailored to individual needs, you will help young people strengthen their personal, social, emotional, and economic wellbeing while developing the skills needed for future employment and independence.

Working collaboratively with young people, you will develop individual action plans and invest time in building positive, trusting relationships that encourage personal growth, resilience, and ambition, helping them take meaningful steps towards a successful future.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

• Provide a high‑quality service to young people, centred on building positive, trusting relationships and supporting their development.
• Deliver evidence‑based, personalised interventions, offering support on a one‑to‑one basis, in small groups, and within classroom settings.
• Deliver training and awareness sessions to professionals and community partners, helping them respond effectively to the needs of young people.
• Maintain strong working relationships and effective communication with colleagues across the service, as well as with external agencies and partner organisations.
• Organise and manage daily work objectives, ensuring tasks and responsibilities are completed efficiently and to a high standard

Let's talk about you

In the role of Young Persons Practitioner, we're ideally looking for someone who has:

• Some experience of working directly with children and young people in one‑to‑one settings, small group environments, or classroom sessions, providing meaningful support, guidance, and encouragement.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding practice, with hands‑on experience applying safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people.
• Experience delivering targeted interventions and initiatives, including completing assessments, creating support plans, and conducting reviews to support positive outcomes.
• Is a Resident of Guernsey
