At Mission Point Resort, every exceptional guest interaction—from leading a sunrise yoga session overlooking Lake Huron to coaching an energizing fitness class—shapes the unforgettable experiences we are known for. As Mackinac Island’s only full-service, casually elegant resort, we are seeking an enthusiastic and service-driven Yoga & Fitness Instructor to join our Wellness & Recreation team and deliver inspiring, safe, and engaging wellness experiences for our guests.
About the Role
The Yoga & Fitness Instructor plays a key role in creating meaningful wellness experiences that elevate our guests’ stay. This hands-on position includes leading group yoga and fitness classes, providing personalized instruction, ensuring proper form and safety, and maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants of all ability levels.
In addition to instruction, this role assists with class scheduling, equipment organization, and maintaining clean and inviting fitness spaces in alignment with resort standards.

QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For
Guest Experience
- Lead daily yoga classes (beginner through intermediate/advanced levels)
- Conduct additional wellness and fitness offerings (stretch, mobility, meditation, low-impact fitness, or specialty classes)
- Provide modifications and hands-on guidance for varying abilities and physical limitations
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, and non-intimidating environment
- Engage with guests before and after classes to enhance the resort experience
- Assist guests with wellness questions, fitness tips, and program recommendations
- Promote participation in resort wellness programs and activities
Program Development
- Design weekly class schedules aligned with guest demographics and occupancy levels
- Develop themed or specialty offerings (sunrise yoga, beach/lawn yoga, recovery sessions, etc.)
- Adapt programming for seasonal operations and weather conditions
- Coordinate private sessions and small group instruction when requested
Safety & Facility Care
- Maintain a safe environment by monitoring participant health and activity levels
- Enforce proper form and injury-prevention practices
- Inspect and set up equipment (mats, blocks, straps, sound system, towels)
- Clean and sanitize equipment following health standards
- Report maintenance concerns or safety hazards immediately
Team & Resort Support
- Collaborate with spa, recreation, and guest services teams
- Support special events, retreats, weddings, and conferences with wellness activities
- Assist with marketing content such as class descriptions or wellness promotions
- Uphold all resort policies, service standards, and brand expectations

Qualifications
- Certified Yoga Instructor (RYT-200 minimum; RYT-500 preferred)
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before start)
- Previous teaching experience in hospitality, fitness center, spa, or studio preferred
- Ability to teach multiple styles strongly preferred (Hatha, Vinyasa, Gentle, Stretch/Recovery, Meditation, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal and guest service skills
- Ability to project voice and lead groups confidently
- Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Stand, demonstrate poses, and move continuously during classes
- Lift and carry up to 25 lbs (mats, equipment)
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Maintain high energy and professional appearance throughout shift

Work Environment
- Fast-paced hospitality setting
- Indoor fitness studio, outdoor lawn/beach, and event spaces
- Frequent interaction with guests of diverse backgrounds and abilities
Preferred Skills
- Meditation or breathwork certification
- Personal training or group fitness certification
- Experience leading retreats or private sessions
- Hospitality or resort experience
