Job Description

*Starting rate is $11.00 per hour

This position is responsible for providing friendly, efficient customer service while preparing and serving menu items in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Prepare and serve menu items according to established recipes and served in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting members and guests, taking orders, answering questions, and making menu recommendations.
  • Customize menu items to meet guest preferences while maintaining recipe standards.
  • Accurately process cash, credit card, and other payment transactions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary café, including food preparation areas, dining areas, and equipment.
  • Complete an inventory checklist throughout scheduled shift.
  • Communicate shortage of inventory to a supervisor.
  • Follow all YMCA policies and health department regulations related to food handling, sanitation, and workplace safety.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cleaning, stocking, and basic equipment maintenance.
  • Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors, and volunteers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the YMCA Café.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be certified in CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid. (Training provided by the Y, if needed)
  • Must complete all required annual compliance training within 30 days of hire and renewed annually.
  • Must be 18yrs of age or older
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a service-oriented environment.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to accurately handle cash and process transactions.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 30 pounds.
