Job/Person Summary

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated teacher to join our team of committed and friendly staff to teach a Year 6 class either full time or 3 days a week in our school from January 2027 to cover a teacher going travelling. This post is fixed term for the remainder of the academic year, with the option to become permanent depending on the staffing structure for September 2027.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, dynamic and nurturing teacher to join our school in Year 6. The successful candidate will work with our lovely group of Year 6 children supported by three other class teachers, a Year 6 Teaching Assistant Team, the KS2 Phase Leader and SLT.

This post would be suitable for an experienced class teacher as it will not fulfil the criteria to be part of an ECT induction process.

If you:

  • Want to work in an environment that encourages fresh ideas and innovative thinking;
  • Have an ability to create a stimulating and purposeful environment, where children are keen to learn;
  • Have a determination that all children will succeed, regardless of starting points or backgrounds;
  • Have high expectations of children’s achievement, behaviour and attitudes to learning;
  • Have a good sense of humour and a purpose to do the best by the children of Copnor, we are the school for you!

We are able to offer you:

  • A commitment to your continued professional development;
  • A large, well-resourced site;
  • A supportive and experienced team;
  • Pleasant and cooperative children;
  • An ethos of support, where new ideas are welcomed.

Commitment to safeguarding

Copnor Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS Disclosure at Enhanced level will be required prior to any offer of employment.

If successfully shortlisted, as part of the identity checks, an online search will be conducted to meet the safeguarding duties set out in KCSIE 2026. The search will not form part of the actual shortlisting process and any concerns as a result of this check will be discussed prior to the interview. A copy of this record will be available for you to view on the day of the interview should you wish to see it.

Application Procedure

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. To arrange a visit or request an application form, please contact April Newsham, Office Manager at the school on 02392 661191 or email admin@copnorprimary.co.uk. An application form can also be downloaded from this site. Candidates should complete an application form and return it to the school via admin@copnorprimary.co.uk so that they reach us by noon on Friday 9th October 2026.
