Here’s how you’ll be a part of our team

The position of Yardperson at our Welshpool branch is a key operational role responsible for preparing, refurbishing and maintaining our portable buildings and amenities to a high standard before they are delivered to customers.

This role would suit someone with a trade or construction background, particularly in carpentry, building maintenance or general refurbishment work. You'll work across a range of portable buildings completing fit-outs, repairs and modifications to ensure our assets are safe, functional and customer-ready.

As well as providing a high level of customer service, you will:

• Carry out refurbishment and repair work on portable buildings and amenities.
• Complete tasks such as replacing doors, repairing walls, installing fixtures and carrying out general carpentry work.
• Modify and reconfigure portable buildings to meet customer requirements.
• Perform general yard duties, including asset inspections and preparation for hire.
• Load and unload portable buildings and equipment using safe work practices.
• Promote and contribute to a Safety First, Zero Harm culture across the branch.

What you will bring to the role

• Valid driver’s licence
• Current Forklift Licence

• Experience in carpentry, building maintenance, repairs, refurbishment, fit-outs or a similar hands-on trade environment.
• The ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Experience loading and unloading equipment
• Strong knowledge of load restraint practices
• A proactive approach to workplace health and safety
• A genuine interest in building a stable, long‑term career with Coates
• A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
