About the Role

American Stone is hiring a full-time Yardhand / Sales Assistant to support customers, assist with yard operations, and help drive sales through walk-in customer interactions.

Compensation: $17 per hour + commission opportunities

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, staying active, learning products, and supporting both sales and yard operations. You will help customers load materials, answer questions, recommend products, and assist the sales team with customer service and order fulfillment.

Candidates with experience in customer service, warehouse operations, landscaping, construction, retail, or related industries are strongly preferred. Familiarity with forklifts, heavy equipment, tools, or outdoor work environments is highly valued.

This is a primarily on-site position based at our Vancouver location. Candidates must be local and available to work during business hours, including Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Assist walk-in customers and help answer product questions
• Load customer vehicles and assist with order fulfillment
• Support yard organization, cleanliness, and product stocking
• Operate forklifts and equipment safely after training
• Assist with sales support and upsell opportunities
• Coordinate with the sales team and yard staff to fulfill customer needs
• Maintain organized work areas and customer service standards
• Help customers locate products and materials throughout the yard
• Assist with general maintenance and cleanup tasks
• Provide friendly, professional customer service at all times

Qualifications

Required:

• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work outdoors and perform physical tasks
• Ability to lift, move, and load materials safely
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude
• Dependable and team-oriented
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills (email, Google Docs, Microsoft Word)

Preferred:

• Candidates must be willing to provide professional references during the hiring process
• Experience in warehouse, yard, retail, landscaping, construction, or customer service roles
• Forklift or equipment experience preferred, but not required
• Familiarity with building materials, tools, or outdoor work environments
• Sales or upselling experience is a plus
• Spanish is a plus
