Job DetailsJob Location: Valdosta, GA 31601Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 HourlyJob Shift: FirstThe Yard Worker I role provides ongoing storing of products in the year and loading/unloading product shipments, maintaining safe work practices. This role reports to the Shipping Manager or Plant Manager based on the location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in safely loading and unloading products, according to DOT trailer specifications.
• Complete a maintenance inspection of assigned forklift at the start of shift and learn to perform any minor maintenance tasks.
• Assist in all shipping and receiving of products in the safest, most efficient, manner possible.
• Follow the process of informing shipping manager, dispatch or mechanic of any mechanical, electrical, or structural defects found on any trailers or tractors, including yard forklifts and yard equipment that would affect the use of or transportation of any Prinsco products.
• Assist in maintaining the yard inventory in an organized manner, making sure all goods are stored in the proper place and informing the shipping manager or production manager, dispatcher, and inventory control of any low inventories detected.
• Understand red tag process, product locations and product SKUs.
• Provide prompt and polite service to our pick-up customers, in alignment with Prinsco Values.
• Identify and report defects or improper machine operations immediately.
• Assist other team members with the verification of customer/vendor loads.
• Under direct supervision, learn to safely and efficiently drive yard semi and trailer.
• Complete accurate, real-time reporting as required.
• Assist other team members, as needed.
• Focus on cross-training, continuous learning, and improvement.
• Train in additional skill levels, including machine operations, computer requirements, and paperwork.
• Participate and support the Continuous Improvement (CI) culture.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required or in the process of completion and a minimum of three months’ work experience.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram forms.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Forklift experience preferred with the ability to achieve a forklift certification.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds consistently, 50 pounds 1/3 of the day, & 75 pounds less than 1/3 of the day.
• Using hands and reaching with hands/arms for over 2/3 of the workday.
• Standing, walking, climbing, or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling for over 2/3 of the workday.
• Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to differentiate colors.
• Ability to work in a production environment that is not temperature controlled and occasionally in varying outdoor weather conditions.
• Ability to work in a loud noise environment.
