Yard Operator, Attwell DC – Etobicoke, ON

As a Yard Operator, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our clients receive timely, accurate, and high-quality service. Working outdoors in all weather conditions, you’ll be responsible for picking and preparing pipe and fittings with efficiency and care. You’ll use RF scanning equipment and apply FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles to maintain inventory accuracy and flow

Location: 90 Disco Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9W 1M2

Available Shifts: Monday – Friday; 7:00am - 3:00pm and 8:30am - 4:30pm

Starting Salary $30.07/hour

Principal responsibilities:

· Picking, transfers and sales orders in an accurate and proficient manner

· Perform Daily Safety Pre-Inspections of your Propane Counterbalance Forklift

· Be able to operate forklift equipment effectively and safely

· Perform duties within the RF processes in place

· Complete work in the prescribed sequence so deliver-by-date is met

· Maintain a strict housekeeping standards

· Report unsafe work conditions/environment in a timely basis

· Loading Flatbed trailers with a combination of Pipe and Skids meeting MTO Standards – Training is provided

· Work proficiently against Efficiency and Quality targets

· Report safety and security issues to your direct supervisor

· All of the above will be performed in various weather conditions – Appropriate seasonal apparel and PPE will be provided. Eligible for winter boots after 3 months

· Perform inventory cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory numbers

· Communicate stock errors and discrepancies clearly and effectively with team members

· Based on the needs of the business the employee may be asked to support various teams

· Monitoring and processing of the paperwork for all orders that relate to Courier/LTL

Requirements

· Completion of a high-school Diploma (OSSD) is preferred

· Current and valid counterbalance forklift certification

· Knowledgeable in safe forklift operating practices

· Previous work experience in a distribution and/or logistics environment is an asset

· Knowledgeable in the use of RF equipment, picking, and loading processes is an asset

· Good written and verbal communication skills

· Successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal background check as per our CTPAT policy

Working conditions:

Moderate requirement of physical activities producing physical stress and fatigue posture changes and visual attentiveness. Work involves both routine and non-routine tasks within well-defined standards. Yard Picking involves at times performing in unfavourable or difficult climate conditions such as heat in summer, and rain/snow fall in winter. Yard pickers need to be prepared and equipped to perform despite difficult work conditions. Incumbent spends almost 100% of their time in the yard environment requiring varying degrees of considerable physical labour. Lifting, pulling and pushing heavy objects (5-50lbs), moving pipe using counterbalance, coming in and out of the machine for scanning product. standing and walking covers majority of the work. Personal safety is affected by dust and traffic caused by other forklift and order pickers. Moderate amount of sensory attention is required. Personal safety is affected by dust and traffic caused by other forklift operators. Limited control of work pace and unexpected workflow brings considerable stressed to this position.
