Job Location: Sparks - Sparks, NV 89431WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The Yard Supervisor is a key position at Jensen Infrastructure. You’ll lead the yard operations directly or indirectly loading products for delivery or for will call to ensure customers receive products on time and are satisfied with the services provided.

Reporting to our General Manager, you’ll lead a team of delivery and yard personnel. You’ll work with commercial drivers, forklift drivers, dispatch, sales, and plant leadership to ensure on schedule, safe delivery of Jensen products.

A highlight of your day-to-day will include

  • Leading the activities of employees; providing assistance to workers engaged in yard activities; troubleshooting worker and materials handling problems and recommending solutions. Engaging in interactive communication. Training workers in materials handling methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, and company policies. Monitoring comprehension and re-training as necessary.
  • Supervising other employees, which includes: interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; motivating, evaluating, rewarding and disciplining employees.
  • Ensuring that the yard is organized and product is easily accessible to load trucks or pull orders as requested by customers. Storing new product produced from production in yard area. Setting up process where oldest manufactured product is delivered first. Assisting in designing the yard storage layout and organizing the storing of parts. Offering suggestions for improvement of yard functions and implementing processes that ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Coordinating with dispatch and sales to ensure any quality problems or customer service issues are resolved. Coordinating incoming truckloads of deliveries to synchronize the timing of having personnel available to unload and store loads. Scheduling start times to cover shifts for loading, will calls, deliveries, and unexpected changes to load schedules.
  • Following all Jensen Infrastructure safety policies and outlined company procedures. Holding safety meetings to review training, department meetings to direct daily activities for completion, and directs activities during the day-to-day operations of the yard. Coordinating with fleet to review and coordinate inspection program for trucks, and ensuring forklifts are properly maintained through preventative maintenance program. Coordinating paperwork, logs, etc. with appropriate managers for review.
  • Operating all tools and equipment based on safety procedures and specified guidelines. Maintaining organized area and properly storing tools, materials, etc. Sweeping excess debris on a continuous basis to ensure a safe work area.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You’re enthusiastic and motivated in a fast-paced, team environment. You have demonstrated leadership skills, decision-making abilities, strong communication, organizational and documentation skills and the ability to handle multiple assignments preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment. You’re a lifelong learner with at least five (5) years of solid on-the-job experience including prior supervisory, dispatch, logistics, and Enterprise Resource Planning experience.
