Yard Operations Manager - Industrial Materials Processing - Base Salary to 125k/year - Chicago, IL

• Our client, an industrial materials processing company, is seeking a Yard Operations Manager to oversee daily facility operations, production activities, equipment maintenance, employee supervision, and regulatory compliance. This position manages material handling workflows, production throughput, preventive maintenance, inventory control, and operational safety within an outdoor industrial environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily yard operations, material processing, production scheduling, and material movement throughout the facility.
• Manage production throughput, equipment utilization, labor allocation, and operational efficiency.
• Identify production bottlenecks and implement process improvements to support productivity and operating costs.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, mechanical repairs, and maintenance scheduling to minimize downtime.
• Supervise production employees, equipment operators, material handlers, and yard personnel.
• Manage employee hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and daily work assignments.
• Administer workplace safety procedures, employee safety training, hazard identification, and corrective actions.
• Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and facility operating procedures.
• Oversee inventory control, material tracking, stock movement, and processing workflows.
• Troubleshoot equipment, production, and material handling issues and coordinate operational corrective actions.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in the metal recycling industry required.
• 3+ years of leadership and operations management experience required.
• Experience managing scrap yard operations, recycling production, or industrial material processing operations.
• Experience supervising production personnel, equipment operators, material handlers, or yard employees.
• Experience implementing workplace safety procedures and maintaining OSHA and environmental regulatory compliance.
• Experience coordinating preventive maintenance programs, industrial equipment repairs, and equipment uptime.
• Experience managing material flow, inventory control, and industrial material handling processes.
• Ability to perform operational oversight duties in an outdoor industrial environment, including traversing active yard and processing areas.

Compensation:

• This role includes a base salary in the 90k - 125k/year range, plus bonus. Our client also offers Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401k with up to a 3% company match, four weeks of PTO, and relocation assistance, if applicable.
