Yard Manager - Metals Recycling - Base Salary to 120k/year – Miami, FL

  • Our client, a high-volume metal recycler is seeking an experienced Yard Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy non-ferrous scrap yard. The ideal candidate will be bilingual (Spanish/English), have hands-on experience grading and purchasing non-ferrous metals, and possess strong operational leadership skills.
  • The Yard Manager will manage yard personnel, maintain efficient material flow, operate heavy equipment when needed, and ensure accurate inventory controls.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all daily operations of the non-ferrous scrap yard, including purchasing, processing, shipping, and inventory management.
  • Grade and purchase non-ferrous metals such as copper, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, and insulated wire.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and commercial accounts.
  • Supervise yard staff and ensure safe and efficient workflow.
  • Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment including balers, forklifts, bobcats, and other material handling equipment.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control systems to track incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Monitor pricing trends and ensure competitive purchasing practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Coordinate shipments with logistics teams and downstream consumers.
  • Train and mentor employees on proper grading, safety procedures, and equipment operation.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual: Fluent in both Spanish and English (required).
  • 3+ years of experience in a non-ferrous scrap recycling environment.
  • Strong knowledge of non-ferrous metal grading and purchasing practices.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as balers, forklifts, and bobcats.
  • Proven experience managing scrap yard inventory controls and material tracking.
  • Leadership experience supervising yard personnel or operations teams.

Compensation:

  • Compensation for this role is comprised of a base salary up to 120k/year, plus discretionary bonus. Our client also offers competitive health benefits and a 401k plan.
