Curtis Lumber is currently looking to immediately fill an Yard Foreman position with someone who possess knowledge on Building Material Products and has a strong background in leadership.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCustomer ServiceAcknowledge, greet, and assist customers in a timely and professional mannerProvide accurate fast in, fast out service for customersIdentify the needs and provide the appropriate level of assistance to the customerEffectively research and resolve customer complaints and conflicts

CommunicationEnsure that all reasonable directives from the Manager are carried out in a timely and accurate mannerCommunicate regularly with the Manager regarding inventory levels, employee progress, safety, procedures, and general yard efficiency

Leadership/ManagementMonitor employee’s daily activity and delegate or assign work as appropriatePrepare and distribute work schedulesChallenge and develop employees’ performance, provide feedback, and hold direct reports accountable for their goals and job responsibilitiesEnsure timely, accurate review of weekly time record reports and employee expenses for payroll processingAssist with candidate selection and interview process for new hiresMotivate employees and offer opportunity and reward appropriatelyMake recommendations to Manager regarding efforts to control employee turnoverMake recommendations to Manager regarding employee performance for coaching, review, and disciplinary efforts

Sales SkillsUnderstand the marketplaceKnow product featuresEffective suggestive selling and add on salesShare expertise with othersInventory and MerchandisingMaintain a neat, clean yard appearancePractice good merchandising including setup and traffic flowMaintain inventory levels and notify appropriate person of out stocksRotate stockManage shrink by utilizing proper procedures for cull and damaged productAssist with physical inventory and cycle counts

ReceivingKnow and follow accepted receiving practicesPrepare for and unload incoming product efficientlyEffectively report receiving variances to the appropriate personStaging LoadsStage loads effectively for deliveryChoose product of appropriate qualityStage SafelyStage QuicklyStage Accurately

Material Handling and Equipment UsageExercise principles of material handling and equipment usage to protect company assetsSafe and proper use of equipment
