Yard Equipment Operator

Opening Summary

As a Yard Equipment Operator, you will play a hands-on role in keeping AECI’s power generation operations moving safely and efficiently. You’ll operate heavy mobile equipment, support coal and ash handling systems, and work alongside an experienced team to maintain reliable plant operations while building your skills in an essential energy career.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, haul trucks, and scrapers to safely handle, condition, convey, and store coal and ash and maintain plant grounds.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment by performing routine lubrication, cleaning, and preventive maintenance on heavy mobile equipment, coal handling equipment, conveyors, and related systems.
  • Put your mechanical and electrical skills to work by recognizing equipment issues, using hand tools and handheld technology, and communicating concerns before they impact operations.
  • Work as part of a safety-focused team, supporting fellow operators, sharing knowledge, and helping keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and ready for reliable operation.

What You’ll Need

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 18 months of heavy equipment operating experience with equipment such as bulldozers, haul trucks, scrapers, or similar mobile equipment.
  • Plant experience and/or at least one year of heavy industrial mechanical or electrical experience, along with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn coal yard systems and equipment.
