Job Description
Akicita Federal is hiring a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging services to veterans served by the VA New Jersey Health Care System's Toms River Community-Based Outpatient Clinic. In this role, you will be a critical part of the care team, ensuring veterans receive timely, accurate radiologic examinations that support their diagnosis and treatment. This is an impactful, patient-facing position where your technical expertise directly improves veteran health outcomes every day.
- Perform a full range of diagnostic radiographic examinations, including general X-ray imaging, for veteran patients at the Toms River CBOC.
- Operate and maintain radiologic equipment in accordance with established safety and quality standards.
- Position patients correctly for imaging procedures, adapting techniques to accommodate patient conditions and mobility limitations.
- Evaluate image quality and make technical adjustments to produce diagnostic-grade radiographs on the first attempt whenever possible.
- Document imaging procedures accurately in the patient health record and relevant VA information systems.
- Coordinate with ordering providers, nursing staff, and other clinic personnel to ensure smooth patient flow and timely completion of imaging orders.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols, including proper shielding and exposure practices, to protect patients, staff, and yourself.
What sets candidates apart:
- Prior experience working within a VA Medical Center, CBOC, or other federal healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with VA electronic health record systems (e.g., VistA, CPRS) or similar clinical information platforms.
- Experience serving veteran or military patient populations and an understanding of their unique healthcare needs.
- Additional ARRT certifications or advanced modality training (e.g., fluoroscopy, bone densitometry/DXA).
- Track record of clean malpractice history and strong professional references from recent clinical supervisors.
