Student Mental Health Ambassador

Division: Student Affairs Department: Health & Wellness

Experience: Entry-level

Supervisor/Reports To: Glenna Henson, LPCC

Start Date: 8/24/2026

The Student Mental Health Ambassador is a peer leadership role that promotes mental health awareness, suicide and bullying prevention, and a safe, supportive school culture. Ambassadors model positive behavior, recognize concerns, encourage help-seeking, and connect peers with trusted adults and resources.

Responsibilities and Career Competencies

  • Promote mental health, suicide prevention, and bullying awareness through campaigns, activities, and positive messaging. (C, L, CTR, T)
  • Model kindness, inclusion, respect, and healthy coping while supporting a positive school culture. (P, L, CTR)
  • Recognize concerns and use the LERN approach—Listen, Encourage, Refer, and Notice—to connect peers with appropriate support. (C, CT, P, CTR)
  • Participate in training and collaborate with staff and ambassadors on wellness activities and initiatives. (TW, CSD, C, L, CTR)
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate peer boundaries, referring serious concerns to trained adults or professionals. (P, CT, CSD, C)
