Writing Head Team Leader

The Writing Head Team Leader is responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of the Writing Head manufacturing and integration team, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of production activities. The role drives operational excellence by managing people, production priorities, process adherence, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional coordination with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and R&D. The Team Leader serves as the primary focal point for production execution, workforce development, escalation management, and delivery performance while ensuring operational targets are consistently achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and develops a team of technicians and engineers responsible for Writing Head manufacturing, integration, troubleshooting, and production support activities.
  • Manages daily production execution to ensure delivery, quality, yield, productivity, and safety targets are achieved.
  • Establishes priorities, allocates resources, and balances workload to support changing business and production requirements.
  • Leads resolution of production issues and escalations, ensuring rapid containment and recovery of manufacturing processes.
  • Drives cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, and R&D to remove operational barriers and improve performance.
  • Ensures compliance with manufacturing procedures, quality requirements, safety regulations, and operational standards.
  • Identifies opportunities for process optimization, productivity improvement, waste reduction, and cost savings.
  • Monitors key operational metrics and drives corrective actions to improve efficiency, yield, equipment utilization, and output.
  • Supports introduction of new products, technologies, manufacturing processes, and engineering changes into production.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives and promotes a culture of operational excellence and problem-solving.
  • Develops team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, training, and performance management.
  • Supports workforce planning, staffing requirements, and organizational development activities.
  • Provides regular operational reports and recommendations to management.

Education & Experience Recommended

  • Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, production engineering, quality, or a related technical field.
  • Previous experience leading technical teams, manufacturing operations, or production support organizations is strongly preferred.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent
  • Project Management certification (advantage)
