Department: Stylist
Reporting to: Executive Editor
Location: Hybrid – Fleet Street London
Ways of Working: Team office-based anchor days are Tuesdays and Thursdays
Contract Type: Permanent

Stylist, the multi-platform women’s media brand, is hiring for a Writer to join Team in our London office on Fleet Street. The role may include attendance to awards ceremonies, industry events, film screenings, and opportunity to connect with brands.

You will be joining a brand that supports internal career development with a path to progression into a Senior Writer role and further into Assistant Editor.

Stylist is part of the DC Thomson media and publishing company and an award-winning women’s media brand with a highly engaged audience of women who want more from their world.  

As a Writer for Stylist, your role will be responsible for originating and writing content across our website, paywall and print platforms. You will ensure all content is accurately written to brief, to deadline and is targeted to our intelligent, female-identifying audience and the aspirational advertisers wishing to reach them.

Key responsibilities

  • Generate unique, exciting and exclusive news and feature ideas, and see them through from pitch to publication.
  • Apply thorough SEO knowledge to all digital content published and monitor everything to get the widest reach possible.
  • Monitor your work post-publication, and to strive to hit personal and website-wide KPI targets.

Additional responsibilities

  • Maintain an understanding of the tastes and interests of Stylist readers and advertisers at all times and ensure that all content meet these needs.
  • Use forward planning tools to maintain awareness of all upcoming events which may be suitable for the website, and plan original, seasonal and trend-led features accordingly.
  • Monitoring social media to further understand the adapting needs of our audience.
  • Maintaining great relationships and attending events with key contacts, experts and PRs to ensure continued access to exclusive opportunities.
  • When needed, represent the brand at Stylist events or in the media.
  • Ensures written content and features meet the brand guidelines of Stylist

Requirements

Skills:

  • Strong writing skills with proven ability to write news and long-form features
  • Strong digital publishing skills, including SEO, CMS and social media content creation
  • A keen understanding of Stylist’s tone, audience and editorial values
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Confident in using data to inform content strategy and performance
  • A proactive, ideas-driven mindset with a passion for storytelling that informs, inspires and empowers

Experience:

Essential

  • Proven experience as a journalist or writer, ideally with a focus on lifestyle or women's media
  • Demonstrable ability to file clear copy with minimal supervision or oversight
  • Strong digital publishing skills, including SEO, CMS and social media content creation
  • A keen understanding of Stylist's tone, audience and editorial values
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
  • Confident in using data to inform content strategy and performance
  • A proactive, ideas‑driven mindset with a passion for storytelling that informs, inspires and empowers

Desirable

  • Comfortable creating multimedia content, including video and appearing on camera when needed
  • Exposure to a Content Management System (CMS) such as Wordpress or similar for writing content on a digital platform; training is provided
