Your New Role

CNN’s Global Productions team is looking for an experienced digital Feature Writer to work across a portfolio of projects. Covering a broad range of topics from sustainability, business, culture and travel, this person will work alongside specialist colleagues across the organization, including section editors, on-air talent, video producers and graphic designers to produce the highest-standard editorial features.

They will use methods such as interactive storytelling, long-form or short-form written features and data visualizations to create premium sponsored content.

Your Role Accountabilities

The Feature Writer will work closely with the Executive Producer, Copy Editors and the Content Insights team to pitch and write sponsored features that engage with audiences, and contribute to the sponsorship KPIs and wider CNN Digital audience development goals. They will maintain CNN’s high journalistic standards by writing content that is balanced, fair, visual, and engaging working within CNN’s established processes and editorial procedures.

This person will collaborate with sponsorship producers to write content from around the world, meeting regularly with our Content Insight Analysts and Programmers to continually learn from our audience insights. The Writer will be required to work with CNN’s on-air talent and producers to write multi-platform content (including TV scripts and digital articles) with information and media assets gathered from field assignments.

This position is based in Hong Kong and will collaborate with a cross-functional team in the US, UK and UAE. The candidate must be a self-starter and comfortable working to tight deadlines and be able to switch rapidly between projects in a fast-paced news environment.

This role requires solid experience in writing, editing, and building digital stories in a CMS. They will have an interest in news and current affairs and have a passion for innovative digital storytelling. They will also build image galleries and write captions.

The Writer will also review the written work of other writers and producers, providing first-edit advice before stories are filed to Copy Editors.

Qualifications & Experience

• Excellent writing skills

• Digital journalism experience in a news environment

• Experience writing and editing feature or news content

• Strong digital storytelling experience

• Good communication skills

• Ideas generation
