Department Overview:

The Wisconsin Partnership Program (WPP) at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health invests in community partnerships, education and research to improve health for all in Wisconsin. The communications team supports these efforts through storytelling, digital communications, marketing and outreach.

The position requires a regular schedule of approximately 5-10 hours per week with partial remote eligibility.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Qualifications

• UW-Madison Undergraduate Student
• Experience in graphic design, social media content creation, and photo editing; motivated by the Wisconsin Partnership Program’s mission to improve health for all in Wisconsin.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop and Canva. Familiarity with Mediagraph, Eloqua and WordPress is preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to follow established content and brand guidelines for design, style and messaging
• Experience working with photography and digital assets
• Familiarity with social media platforms including LinkedIn and Facebook
• Interest in health, health care or public health
• Maintain regular weekly work hours
• Demonstrate strong written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple projects effectively
• Willingness to learn about the University Digital Accessibility Initiative and how to implement accessibility best practices in WPP’s digital spaces

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Under the supervision of the WPP Communications Manager, this position will:

• Assist in implementation of American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) digital accessibility informed by UW-Madison guidelines
• Assist in lay-out and digital asset development for various WPP e-newsletters and e-alerts and email campaign
• Assist in organizing WPP’s digital assets, through the implementation of Mediagraph, WPP’s digital asset management platform
• Assist with other communications-related tasks as needed
• Design graphics for social media to promote WPP funding opportunities, events and news stories
• Work collaboratively with WPP Communications team to develop and manage social media calendar and strategy

The communications assistant will have the opportunity to work on a variety of communications projects in collaboration with the Communications Manager while also working independently. They will also gain hands-on experience in nonprofit and public health communications while working closely to projects that have statewide impact.

Physical Demands:

Primarily sedentary office work with routine computer use and minimal lifting (up to 10 lbs).
