Job Description

We are working closely with a local authority in Carmarthenshireto assist with the appointment of a Workshop Technician, on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £15.50- £20.27 per hour

The Workshop Technician is responsible for the servicing, inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of Carmarthenshire County Council's fleet of vehicles and associated equipment. Based at Trostre Depot, the post holder will ensure that all Council fleet vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and legislative compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on Council fleet vehicles in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and Council procedures.
  • Diagnose faults using specialist diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
  • Ensure specialist equipment complies with operational and safety requirements.
  • Ensure all work complies with roadworthiness regulations and health and safety legislation.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and fleet users regarding vehicle status and repair progress.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Light or Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering.

Essentials:

  • Practical experience servicing and repairing light or heavy goods vehicles.
  • Experience diagnosing and rectifying mechanical faults.
  • Experience carrying out planned maintenance and inspections.
  • Experience working with workshop tools, equipment, and diagnostic systems.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
