The Role?

The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day workshop activities, focusing on the refurbishment, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical or hydraulic components for heavy equipment. This role involves hands-on supervision, team coordination, and ensuring all work is completed to high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas

Workshop Supervision:

  • Plan, schedule and supervise all workshop operations, including dismantling, inspection, refurbishment, and reassembly of crane components/assemblies.
  • Assign tasks to workshop technicians and monitor their performance to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure all personnel understand job hazards and controls
  • Conduct quality checks at various stages of the refurbishment process.
  • Monitor workshop housekeeping, ensuring compliance with 5S and EnerMech standards.

Technical Leadership:

  • Provide guidance to technicians on mechanical repairs, hydraulic systems, and structural component refurbishments. Instruct senior technicians and supervisors to provide support.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, repair manuals, and industry standards to guide the team effectively.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues, ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Ensure all work is performed according to OEM specifications, API/ISO standards, and client requirements.
  • Conduct QC checks, approve inspection reports, and final acceptance documentation.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Enforce HSE policies, PTW requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure mitigation measures are implemented.
  • Stop unsafe work and intervene immediately when hazards are identified.
  • Role out safety alerts and lessons learnt from previous scopes to reduce rework and raise awareness.

Resource and Inventory Management:

  • Responsible to manage workshop tools, equipment, and consumables, ensuring availability and proper maintenance.
  • Support workshop store man to track inventory levels and coordinate with line manager for procurement of required materials and spare parts.
  • Support workshop store man with maintaining accurate records of tools and equipment usage.

Team Coordination:

  • Delegate supervision to workshop supervisors or senior technicians in support of development.
  • Train and mentor workshop technicians, ensuring they are skilled and knowledgeable in refurbishment processes.
  • Promote teamwork and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report individual and team performance to line manager.
  • Motivate staff to maintain high levels of productivity and morale.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of work completed, including inspection reports, job cards, and quality control checklists to support engineers' work.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress and highlight any issues or delays.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of repairs and ensure compliance with client and industry standards.
  • Participate in client audits, technical meetings, and workshop inspections.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Education: Diploma or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore pedestal cranes, including hydraulic systems, winches, and structural components.
  • Certifications: Relevant technical or trade certifications (e.g., crane maintenance, hydraulics, or welding) are an advantage.

  • Workshop-based role with potential travel to offshore locations for inspections or project support.
  • Requires physical fitness to work in a demanding environment, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working with heavy equipment.
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours during peak project periods.
  • Based in a workshop environment with occasional site visits to offshore platforms as needed.
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours and manage on-call responsibilities during critical projects.
