Job Description

Lead a High-Performing Heavy Vehicle Workshop

GTS Freight Management is seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead our workshop team at our Mildura Head Office.

Reporting directly to the Fleet Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring our heavy vehicle fleet is maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability and compliance. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee workshop operations, mentor technicians and drive a culture of quality workmanship, teamwork and continuous improvement.

About the Role

As Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the workshop, ensuring servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance are completed efficiently and to the highest standard.

You'll work closely with drivers and the Fleet Manager to keep our fleet operating safely while leading a team of skilled technicians in a positive and productive environment.

Key Responsibilities


  • Lead, supervise and support workshop technicians.
    Coordinate and schedule servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance.

  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment are maintained to roadworthy and compliance standards.

  • Inspect completed repairs to ensure quality workmanship.

  • Manage workshop productivity and daily workflow.

  • Promote and maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop.

  • Coach, mentor and develop apprentices and workshop staff.

  • Approve timesheets and oversee daily workshop administration.

  • Drive continuous improvement across workshop operations.

  • Foster a positive team culture focused on safety, accountability and quality.

About You

You are an experienced heavy vehicle mechanic who enjoys leading by example. You have excellent organisational skills, communicate well with your team and take pride in delivering quality outcomes.

Essential


  • Qualified Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic.

  • Minimum three years' experience in the heavy vehicle industry.

  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of NHVR and heavy vehicle maintenance compliance.

  • Experience using workshop management systems.

Desirable


  • Certificate IV in Leadership & Management (or equivalent).

  • Previous experience supervising a heavy vehicle workshop.
