Workshop & Production Manager (Hands-On Technical
Leader)

hands-on Workshop & Production
Manager
who can successfully bridge the gap between technical execution and
operational leadership. This is not a desk-based management role—you'll lead
from the front, ensuring production runs efficiently while remaining actively
involved in the workshop when required.

Key Responsibilities
Lead
and manage the daily operations of the workshop and production department.
Plan,
schedule and monitor production to ensure deadlines and quality standards
are achieved.
Supervise,
mentor and develop workshop staff while maintaining high productivity.
Roll
up your sleeves and assist with welding, repairs, fault finding and
workshop activities when needed.
Manage
stock levels, procurement and workshop resources.
Read,
interpret and implement technical drawings and production specifications.
Oversee
maintenance of workshop equipment, machinery and facilities, including
basic electrical, plumbing and building maintenance.
Drive
continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce
downtime.
Ensure
full compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation and
maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
Grade
12 (Matric).
Technical
qualification or Trade Test (highly advantageous).
Production
or Operations Management qualification will be beneficial.
Minimum
5 years' experience
managing a workshop, production facility or
manufacturing environment.
Strong
production planning and scheduling experience.
Proven
leadership experience managing workshop or production teams.
Construction
or manufacturing industry experience is essential.
Ability
to read and interpret technical drawings.
Hands-on
technical ability with welding (TIG, ARC, CO₂ and Spot Welding), fault
finding and use of power tools.
Practical
knowledge of basic electrical work, plumbing and general building
maintenance.
Strong
stock control and procurement experience.
Good
computer skills (MS Office).
Sound
knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
Valid
driver's licence and own transport.
