The purpose of this position is to assist in the workshop to assemble and repair batteries in a cost-efficient manner by using the correct equipment, to the required industry and safety standards and assist with other duties.
To perform this job successfully, the appointed individual must be able to perform each essential duty / key performance area satisfactorily. This list of key performance areas is not exhaustive and may be changed / supplemented to accommodate business needs from time to time:
Technical / Mechanical assistance to be given to technicians / mechanics as and when requested:
Assist technicians / mechanics with adjustment, maintenance, part replacement and repair of equipment / machines.
Carry out minor repairs; responsible to do such requested repairs according to instruction, correctly and promptly.
Assist with stripping / disassembling of equipment in order to perform checks / do quotes / complete repairs; assist with re-assembly of equipment.
Cleaning and lubrication of machinery, vehicles, equipment, tools
General cleaning of parts and / or equipment
Ensuring cleanliness and neatness of work area, store and / or yard area – e.g., housekeeping, cleaning of oil spills, etc.
Provide general physical assistance to technicians / mechanics / supervisor as and when requested.
Charging and changeover of batteries.
Inspect, clean and testing of batteries and chargers.
Must generally act and work in an efficient and safety conscious manner.
Must operate equipment, use hand power tools and specialized hand tools in correct and safe manner with or without supervision.
Perform various other tasks the technician might need the workshop assistant to do.
