Job Description

Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division is seeking a motivated and technically curious Support and Workshop Applications Engineer to be based in Aberdeen. This is an entry‑level role designed to develop hands‑on technical capability and real‑world experience in GNSS and Sensor‑based systems, customer support, and workshop operations within a global, high‑technology environment.

Reporting to the Support and Workshop Supervisor, you will join the Global Customer Support team, supporting Hexagon products across the EMEA region. You will work closely with experienced Engineers, Technical Leads, Sales teams while building your technical skills and industry knowledge.

This entry level role offers a structured development path into a full Applications Engineer position, with hands‑on experience, mentoring, and exposure to real customer environments across the GNSS and positioning industry.

Responsibilities

As our Entry Level Applications Engineer, you would be responsible for:

  • Assist with testing, preparing, and maintaining Hexagon A&P GNSS and positioning equipment
  • Assist with system vessel installation, configuration, and mobilisation activities (onshore and offshore, where required)
  • Contribute to delivery of 24/7 global customer support and provide assistance with technical training activities
  • Maintain accurate records for equipment testing, maintenance, and repairs
  • Assist with the execution of sales and rental orders to ensure accurate and timely delivery to Customers

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • Formal Qualification, Electronics/Electrical, Telecommunications or a related engineering discipline or relevant industry experience
  • interest in GNSS, positioning, navigation, system sensors and advanced technology
  • Basic understanding of electronics or engineering principles
  • Good analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and take guidance from experienced engineers
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and customers
  • Willingness and ability to travel, including occasional offshore assignments

  • Basic workshop, lab, or hands‑on technical experience
