QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Vocational Education, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience managing operations, enterprises, or livelihood initiatives.
  • Experience linking economic activities with training, education, or community development is highly desirable.
  • NGO, social enterprise, or development-sector experience is an asset.

The position

BACKGROUND

Om Habibeh Foundation (OHF) is an Egyptian non-profit foundation serving Aswan for more than 35 years.

Established by Om Habibeh Mohamed Shah Aga Khan, the Foundation reflects a deep commitment to the dignity and well-being of local communities. Guided by this legacy, OHF works under the Ministry of Social Solidarity to improve the quality of life of vulnerable communities through integrated and sustainable development. Its work spans education, health, economic inclusion, agriculture and food security, civil society strengthening, women’s empowerment, and early childhood development.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Works and Enterprise Manager leads OHF’s enterprise development and employability programmes, including the Continuing Education Centre (CEC), ensuring alignment with OHF’s broader social development mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership and Programme Design

  • Lead the strategic direction and growth of Work and Enterprise programmes.
  • Develop innovative, market-responsive livelihood and entrepreneurship initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Global Programme Team, Partnerships, and AKDN entities to identify funding opportunities and support proposal development.
  • Position the CEC to deliver relevant, high-quality training linked to employment opportunities for youth and women.

Programme Implementation and Oversight

Programme and Enterprise Management

  • Oversee implementation and operations of all Work and Enterprise projects and social enterprises.
  • Coordinate Annual Work Plans, budgets, and donor compliance.
  • Monitor progress, expenditure, risks, and corrective actions.
  • Improve existing enterprises and introduce new market-oriented initiatives that create jobs and support local economic development.

Skills Development and CEC Integration

  • Collaborate with the CEC to provide practical learning opportunities.
  • Facilitate apprenticeships, internships, and on-the-job training.
  • Support development of labour market-responsive training modules and short courses.

Team Leadership and Capacity Development

  • Lead, mentor, and support programme staff.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and effective communication.
  • Identify capacity gaps and coordinate professional development opportunities.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OHF policies, donor requirements, safeguarding, and health and safety standards.
  • Maintain quality standards across enterprise operations, products, services, and training.
  • Integrate gender equality, inclusion, safeguarding, and environmental considerations across programmes.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Coordinate with ME&L teams to maintain monitoring frameworks and accurate programme data.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits and support adaptive management.
  • Track programme, operational, and financial indicators and ensure timely reporting.
  • Review technical documents, assessments, and evaluations.

Partnerships and Coordination

  • Build partnerships with private sector actors, employers, suppliers, government entities, TVET institutions, and universities.
  • Strengthen collaboration with AKDN agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Support donor engagement, proposal development, and integrated programming initiatives.

Learning, Knowledge Sharing, and Communication

  • Document and share best practices, lessons learned, and success stories.
  • Support communication and visibility materials in coordination with Partnerships and Communications teams.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends in livelihoods, enterprise development, TVET, and workforce development.
