The Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Branch creates value by protecting people, supporting operational performance and enabling organisational resilience through effective risk management, safety leadership, fitness for work programs and environmental stewardship.

The Role

The Workplace Health and Safety Advisor delivers services to assist line management to minimise incidences and the severity of work-related injury and illness or dangerous events. This role helps implement PTS’s Safety and Environment Management systems, provides advice, strategy development, and guidance on Workplace Health and Safety and environmental matters.

This is an exciting role where you can provide your knowledge and experience in workplace health and safety in a challenging and complex environment. This is an excellent opportunity to continue to grow and develop your skills within an exciting group delivering vital services to the people of Brisbane.

In this role you will:

  • provide advice and information on speciality HSE matters
  • design, conduct and evaluate targeted training, induction, hazard awareness and job specific risk management programs
  • monitor and audit Public Transport Services’ Safety and Environmental Management Systems, practices and procedures
  • provide analysis and interpretation of WH&S and environmental performance
  • support investigations and reporting on accidents
  • contribute to the continuous improvement of Public Transport Services’ Safety and Environment Management Systems.

To be successful you will have:

  • knowledge of WHS and environmental legislation and standards
  • demonstrated ability providing WHS and environmental services
  • demonstrated ability in preparing and undertaking physical and system audits, investigating incidents, and dangerous events
  • sound verbal and written communication skills.
