Job Description

Enabler for smaller, more powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips

Working for tomorrow today.

Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are produced using ZEISS technologies. As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.

Your Role

With us, you have the opportunity to perfectly combine your studies with practical experience while actively contributing to exciting projects. This allows you to gain valuable skills, expand your network, and grow both professionally and personally.

  • Analyze and characterize typical shock and load cases in transport and handling processes for highly sensitive optical components through literature review, data analysis, and experimental investigations
  • Develop a methodology and guideline for the design of transport equipment and tooling, taking into account technical requirements as well as existing shop floor and shipping processes
  • Apply modern shock analysis methods such as Shock Response Spectrum (SRS) and Pseudo Velocity Shock Spectrum (PVSS) to evaluate and design transport and handling solutions
  • Simulate and experimentally verify the developed design methodology using selected real-world case studies, and derive robust design criteria
  • Assess technical and economic potential for simplifying and reducing the cost of transports and tooling, and prepare the results for later implementation in a Software tool

Your Profile

  • Enrolled in a Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable technical field
  • First experience in dynamic analyses and shock analysis is advantageous
  • Knowledge of data analysis with MATLAB, Python, or comparable software
  • Basic knowledge in design as well as experience with CAD and FEM tools
