Keep the world awake - kickstart your SRE career at scale

ilert helps thousands of DevOps & IT teams detect, fix, and communicate incidents faster. Our platform is mission-critical: customers rely on us 24/7 to keep their always-on businesses running.

Whether you are looking for a long-term working student position alongside your studies or a full-time internship to dive deep into infrastructure, you will be an integrated member of our engineering team. You won't just be fetching coffee; youโ€™ll be helping us maintain the reliability, performance, and scalability of a platform running on AWS, Kubernetes, and Kafka

Tasks

  • Platform Learning & Support: Assist in operating our AWS-based infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters.
  • Observability: Help build and refine SLOs, SLIs, and dashboards (Grafana/Prometheus) to ensure our systems are transparent and healthy.
  • Automation: Work with Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines to eliminate manual "toil" and automate operational tasks.
  • Distributed Systems: Gain hands-on experience with high-throughput systems like Kafka and ClickHouse
  • AI Innovation: Support the team in strengthening incident response workflows through collaboration with our AI SRE agent team
  • Documentation: Help maintain our technical runbooks and documentation to ensure we remain "always-on."

Requirements

  • Current Student: You are enrolled in Computer Science, IT Security, Mathematics, or a similar technical degree.
  • Foundational Knowledge: You understand the basics of Linux internals and how the internet works (DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP).
  • Scripting Mindset: You have some experience with at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python, Go, or Bash).
  • Infrastructure Curiosity: You have a "builder" mindset and a genuine interest in Cloud Computing and DevOps.
  • Bonus Points: You've experimented with Docker, a cloud provider (AWS/GCP/Azure), or CI/CD tools in university or side projects.
  • Language: Fluent English (our working language). German is a nice-to-have but not required.

Benefits

  • ๐Ÿš€ Real Impact: Work on a product that is essential for the uptime of companies globally.
  • ๐Ÿก Hybrid Freedom: Join us in our Rheinauhafen office (3 days) with a great roof terrace, and work from home (2 days).
  • ๐Ÿ•’ Flexibility: We prioritize your exams. Working students can adjust hours during peak study times; Interns get a deep-dive professional immersion.
  • ๐ŸŽ“ Mentorship: Learn directly from senior SREs and our CTO in a flat-hierarchy environment.
  • ๐ŸŒด Focus Culture: We value "maker time," minimize meetings, and favor asynchronous communication.

At ilert, we hire for potential. Even if you haven't mastered every tool in our stack yet, we want to hear from you if you are passionate about building resilient systems.
