We are looking for a highly motivated working student - ai & software engineering (f/m/d) to join redalpine and help build the technology that underpins how we invest.
In this role, you’ll take ideas from prototype to production in a fast-paced environment, contributing to core internal tooling, data pipelines, and intelligent automations. You’ll work at the intersection of venture capital and cutting-edge technology, helping to shape the systems that give us our edge.
The position offers unique exposure to how a leading VC firm leverages data and AI in its investment processes and is ideal for someone who enjoys building, iterating quickly, and taking ownership in a dynamic environment.
Core Engineering: Write clean, reliable code to build and maintain our internal software and data systems. You’ll contribute to backend services, data pipelines, and database structures that power our sourcing platform and other internal tooling.
Rapid Prototyping: Quickly build and iterate on internal tools, experiments, and AI-driven features - from idea to usable prototype.
AI & Automation: Leverage modern AI tools and APIs (e.g. LLMs) to automate workflows and improve internal processes. You’ll integrate existing tools and build lightweight solutions to solve practical problems.
Product-Oriented Thinking: Work closely with non-technical team members to understand their workflows and challenges, and translate them into simple, effective technical solutions.
Tech Stack: Our core systems are built with Elixir and Phoenix. You don’t need prior experience with Elixir - strong software engineering fundamentals are what matter, and you’ll pick it up quickly.
Technical Background: You’re currently studying Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, with solid coding skills.
Strong Fundamentals: You have a good grasp of software engineering basics (e.g. data structures, APIs, working with databases) and write clean, structured code.
Hands-on Experience: You’ve built things before - through internships, side projects, or open-source contributions - and can point to work you’re proud of.
Builder Mindset: You enjoy turning ideas into working solutions and are excited to ship quickly and iterate.
Curiosity & Ownership: You’re proactive, eager to learn, and comfortable picking up new tools or technologies as needed.
Pragmatic Approach: You choose the right tool for the job - whether that’s writing code or leveraging existing tools and APIs to move faster.
AI-Native Mindset: AI tools are a natural part of how you work, not a novelty. You already use LLMs, code assistants, and AI-powered workflows to move faster in your day-to-day.
Nice to Have
AI Engineering Exposure: Familiarity with LLM application development (e.g. prompt design, RAG, tool calling, or structured LLM workflows).
Workflow & Automations: Experience with automation platforms (e.g. n8n, Make, Zapier) and integrating tools or agents.
Technical Foundations: Basic understanding of IT/DevOps concepts (e.g. networking, CI/CD) and data fundamentals (e.g. SQL, schemas).
