Job Description

Are you interested in how digital technologies, innovative business models and strategic partnerships can transform a global industrial company? The Digital Partnerships team identifies and develops digital business opportunities with technology companies and startups. We work at the intersection of strategy, innovation, commercial development and implementation. Our ambition is to build a digital ecosystem that creates measurable value for Heidelberg Materials, strengthens our partners and helps set new standards for the building materials industry.

Our work spans the full partnership lifecycle: from market screening and opportunity assessment through business-case development, pilot enablement and commercial structuring to scaling solutions across countries and business lines. Current activities cover topics such as operational technology, artificial intelligence, automation, sustainability solutions, digital customer offerings and strategic investments.

As a working student, you will become an active member of the team and contribute to real strategic and commercial topics. You will work with colleagues across countries and functions, interact with external technology partners and take ownership of clearly defined deliverables. The role combines analytical work, project coordination and communication, rather than focusing on traditional IT operations.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support market research and analysis of technology trends, startups, and digital business opportunities
  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of strategic partnerships and digital initiatives
  • Assist in preparing business cases, presentations, management briefings, and decision papers
  • Support project coordination across international stakeholders and business functions
  • Contribute to internal communication incl. our internal newsletter, knowledge-sharing activities, and team initiatives
  • Help maintain and improve digital tools, databases, and collaboration platforms
  • Support ad-hoc analyses and special projects related to innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation

YOUR PROFILE

  • You are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree, for example in business administration, economics, industrial engineering, information systems, innovation management or a comparable field.
  • You have strong analytical skills and enjoy structuring unfamiliar or complex topics.
  • You can turn research and data into concise conclusions, recommendations and visually clear presentations.
  • You are interested in digital technologies, startups, strategic partnerships and the transformation of industrial businesses.
  • You work independently, reliably and with strong attention to detail.
  • You are comfortable coordinating with different stakeholders and proactively following up on open topics.
  • You communicate confidently in English, both verbally and in writing. German is an advantage, but not essential.
  • You are proficient in PowerPoint and Excel and comfortable working with Microsoft 365.
  • You are curious and willing to learn new digital tools, including AI and low-code applications.
  • Previous experience from internships, student initiatives, consulting projects, startups, venture capital, corporate strategy or business development is an advantage, but not required.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Broad exposure: You will gain insight into the complete lifecycle of digital partnerships, from market screening and business cases to commercial agreements, pilots and international scaling.
  • Management visibility: You will prepare materials for senior stakeholders and may present your own work.
  • International collaboration: You will work with colleagues, technology companies and startups across different countries and functions.
  • Development beyond a typical student role: You will learn how digital strategy, commercial decision-making, innovation and implementation come together in a global industrial company.
  • A close-knit and interdisciplinary team: You will work in a dynamic environment with short coordination paths, direct feedback and room to contribute your own ideas.
  • Flexible working: The role offers a hybrid working model and can be combined with your studies.
