Assistant Service Manager | Guaranteed Base Salary + Commission

Location: Saint James, NY
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Pay Rate: $57,200 guaranteed annual base salary ($1,100/week) plus commissions and bonuses
Pay Type: Guaranteed base salary + weekly gross profit commission + monthly performance bonus
Earning Potential: Uncapped weekly GP commission + up to $6,000 annually in management and quality bonuses

Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Service Manager / Senior Automotive Service Advisor in Saint James, NY.

This is a hands-on leadership position for a detail-focused Service Advisor with independent automotive repair shop experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers and accurately document vehicle concerns.
• Prepare repair orders and accurate repair estimates.
• Review technician findings and Digital Vehicle Inspections.
• Present legitimate repair and maintenance recommendations.
• Prioritize recommendations based on safety, reliability, maintenance, and future needs.
• Obtain customer authorization and provide repair updates.
• Review invoices and explain completed repairs.
• Document declined services and future recommendations.
• Help manage daily shop workflow and scheduling.
• Communicate with technicians regarding repairs and workflow.
• Monitor completion times, parts delays, and quality control.
• Review repair orders for documentation and billing accuracy.
• Assist with customer concerns and daily shop operations.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when assigned.
• Assist with opening and closing after earning Key Holder status.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of automotive Service Advisor, Assistant Manager, or similar automotive experience preferred.
• Independent automotive repair shop Service Advisor experience required.
• Strong automotive knowledge.
• Experience building and presenting repair estimates.
• Experience with Digital Vehicle Inspections.
• Understanding of labor, parts, gross profit, and shop productivity.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to make responsible decisions when management is unavailable.
