The working Master Electrician will be responsible for maintenance/construction activities around all voltages (up to 345kV) substation and transmission lines. This position is a key contributor to the Paradigm team through both leadership and project execution. A key component will be to obtain Master Electrician licenses in various states and sign on as the Master Electrician of Record for the Company in those states.

  • Hold or obtain Master Electrician licenses in various jurisdictions and sign on as the Master Electrician of Record on the Company’s Electrical Contractor’s Licenses.
  • Oversee maintenance/construction on electrical collection systems including underground cable faults, pad-mount transformers (including fuses, bushings, and terminations), switchgears, splices, wiring up to 34.5kV, substation riser terminations, scan, test HV, MV and LV cables.
  • May lead, train, and instruct 3-5 crew members in safe work practices for the assigned tasks.
  • Oversee substation switching and LOTO.
  • Troubleshoot and/or test electrical components and systems.
  • Oversee service on underground collection systems, substations, or fiber optic sensing and control systems.
  • Replace worn or malfunctioning components.
  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of all electrical units on the job site.
  • Ensure scheduled checks for spotting any malfunctions.
  • Oversee appropriate use and handling of electrical testing and repair equipment.
  • Oversee completion of all tasks as assigned by the supervising manager.
  • Maintain a log of electrical repair and maintenance works.

Requirements

  • Licensed Master Electrician
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in the electrical utility industry.
  • Valid Driver’s License, CDL a plus.
  • Understanding of all stages of installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of systems and service work in new or remodeled substations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively by written and verbal means.
  • Basic computer operation skills and familiarity with internet-based program navigation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions with precise execution.
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand drawings and schematics.
  • Proven experience in a field base role with limited supervisory interaction.
