WORKFORCE STUDENT SUCCESS MANAGER
Grade: 14
FLSA: Exempt
Location: Williston Campus (Hybrid)
Bargaining Unit: VSCUP-PAT

BASIC FUNCTION

To provide comprehensive advising, enrollment support, and case management for learners entering Vermont State University through workforce programs, apprenticeships, and employer-sponsored education. Position is responsible for managing workforce-generated leads, supporting student progression into and through academic programs, and serving as the primary point of contact for HireAbility participants and students requiring disability-informed navigation.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Enrollment Management & Lead Conversion (40%)

  • Manage and follow up on prospective students originating from workforce, apprenticeship, and employer-sponsored programs.
  • Conduct outreach to encourage matriculation, and support enrollment goals.
  • Coordinate with Admissions to align workforce lead processes, communication, and data tracking.
  • Develop continuation and enrollment plans for employer-sponsored learners and near-completers.
  • Use enrollment systems and reporting tools to monitor progress and inform outreach strategies.

Workforce & Apprenticeship Advising (40%)

  • Provide academic and career advising for workforce learners, apprentices, and employer-sponsored students.
  • Assist students with onboarding, course selection, degree planning, and navigation of university policies.
  • Monitor student progress and conduct proactive outreach at key points in the academic lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with faculty, academic support services, and CWPE leadership to address student needs and barriers.

Online Learning Support (10%)

  • Support workforce learners enrolling in online programs, including program selection and onboarding.
  • Coordinate with online learning staff to promote retention and address student concerns.

VCAP & Disability-Focused Navigation (10%)

  • Serve as primary contact for all HireAbility participants, maintaining continuity of advising and case management.
  • Coordinate with HireAbility and other agencies to support students requiring disability-related accommodations or services.
  • Provide barrier-reduction support and assist students in accessing university and community resources.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

General supervision is received from the Executive Director - Center for Workforce & Professional Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline and 2–5 years of professional experience in education, advising, workforce development, counseling, or related field; or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in an appropriate field. Experience working with adult learners, apprenticeship programs, disability services, or workforce development partnerships.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of academic advising practices and student development principles.
  • Understanding of workforce education, apprenticeships, and employer-sponsored training.
  • Knowledge of disability services and vocational rehabilitation systems.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and case management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, faculty, employers, and agency partners.
  • Skill in organizing work, managing multiple tasks, and using data to inform decisions.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student-centered service.

LOCATION

Hybrid position based at the Williston Campus with occasional travel to other sites, employer locations, and partner agencies.

Compensation: The budgeted compensation for this position is $70,000.
