ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

Why this role matters

The Salvation Army is one of the largest providers of homelessness services across the country. Our philosophy is that every person should be afforded dignity and respect and that no one should be without a safe, affordable, and secure home. We provide services and supports to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of accommodation, case management, assertive outreach, financial assistance, community connection and referral services.

About Journey to Social Inclusion (J2SI)

J2SI is an innovative and evidenced-based case management service for people experiencing long-term homelessness. It differs from traditional homelessness services as it provides the time needed for people to access their permanent home and have an improved quality of life and increased community connection. Staff have the ability to work intensively with small caseloads and use a combined key worker and team approach to deliver intensive individualised support for up to 3 years to each client.

About the role

The Workforce Participation Worker plays a key role in supporting J2SI participants to reconnect with education, volunteering, employment and community life. You’ll work alongside clients to understand their aspirations, help them navigate barriers and build confidence as they move toward meaningful social and economic participation.

You’ll collaborate closely with Intensive Case Managers, strengthening their capability to support participants’ employment and inclusion goals through both individual and group work. The role also serves as the primary J2SI connection to employment service providers, fostering strong partnerships that open doors and create sustainable opportunities for clients.
